Guaranty Trust Bank (Liberia) Limited was registered on June 7, 2007 and granted a full operational license on March 6, 2009. Its business focus includes institutional investment, commercial and retail banking as well as financial advisory, small to medium and medium to long term capital financing.
The Bank is a subsidiary of Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, one of the foremost banks in Nigeria with a Triple A rating; the first indigenous owned sub-Saharan bank to be quoted on the London Stock Exchange and first new generation indigenous African bank to obtain a banking license to carry out fully fledged banking activities in the United Kingdom.
GTBank Plc, Nigeria, currently owns 99.43% of the issued share capital of the Bank with some highly reputable Liberians holding 0.57%.
The Bank currently has ten (10) business locations: Clara Town, Randall Street, Redlight, Sinkor, Waterside, Roberts International Airport, Ganta, Buchanan, National Port Authority and ELWA, and intends to extend its branch network to other parts of the country in line with its long-term investment strategy in the Liberian economy. This has been supported by the increase in paid up capital of the bank by its shareholders from US$10 Million to US$15 Million, which is well above the prescribed regulatory minimum of US$10 Million.
